A moderate earthquake just now, centered in the Imperial hydrothermal field, which is related to the over all larger rifting zone. The Imperial field may be volcanic in nature, and has a small volcano just to the north, the Salton Buttes. There is a magma chamber below Salton Buttes. Today's moderate quake is also not too far from the system that kicked off a 7.2 quake south of Mexicali on Easter Sunday, 2010. This is something to keep an eye on, for this particular event had it's own highly localized micro-quake swarm a day before, It is also just south of where the San Andreas Fault ends.
